Kimberly A. Childs grew up in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in a small town in Habersham County, Georgia. After she obtained her undergraduate degree at North Georgia College in Dahlonega, she moved down to the “big city” and obtained her juris doctor degree at Georgia State University College of Law in downtown Atlanta. At Georgia State, Kim served on the editorial board of The Law Review, was a pupil with the Bleckley Inn of Court, received numerous academic honors, including the Outer Barrister Guild Award, and graduated magna cum laude.

Kim began her practice as an associate attorney on the business litigation team at Hunton & Williams, an AM LAW 50 law firm founded in 1901. While practicing at Hunton, Kimberly represented large corporations in complex litigation matters. In 2005, Kim left Hunton to join a litigation boutique in midtown where she continued to represent businesses in sophisticated commercial disputes. In 2007, Kim opened her own business and commercial litigation firm, The Childs Law Firm LLC, which merged in summer of 2009 to form “Berger & Childs”. The Firm represents businesses in a variety of civil matters, including contract disputes, challenges to IP rights, trade secrets claims, real estate disputes (including landlord/tenant issues), and general corporate governance matters.

In 2009 and 2010, Kim was named as one of the Georgia Super Lawyer Rising Stars by Atlanta Magazine. She also received recognition from the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers (GAWL) as a “Committee Star”, as well as receiving the Vinings Rotary Club Best New Rotarian Award in 2008. Kim currently serves as chair for committees in GAWL and the Cobb County Bar Association Business Litigation Section. She stays active in her community, including past service on the Board of Directors for the Smyrna Business Association (2008-2009) and current service on the Smyrna Education Foundation Board of Directors (2010- present). Kim is a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, where she serves on the Board of Directors for the church sponsored Parents Morning Out program and assists with teaching Sunday School for preschoolers.

Kim lives in Smyrna, Georgia with her husband, who she met in high school, two children Katharine (6 years) and Benjamin (4 years), and her dog, Bragg. In her spare time, Kim enjoys cheering for her children as they learn various organized sports, playing tennis with her family, and avidly supporting the Atlanta Falcons as they begin their Super Bowl run!
